Ogunquit Museum of American Art - Art by the Sea Gala

Summer memories. Arts and culture. Wine. Food. Friendly faces. Frenetic bidding. All for an excellent cause – and right in Ogunquit!

Saturday, August 19th was the SOLD OUT 2017 Art By The Sea Gala at the Ogunquit Museum Of American Art (OMAA) – a true a highlight of the Ogunquit, Maine social season!

Art by the Sea is the OMAA’s premier annual fundraising event providing a significant source of funding for the Museum’s continuing operations in support of its mission, exhibitions, and programs. Co-chaired by Lisa Aubin (Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager & Home Mortgage Lending at Kennebunk Savings) and Jason Corbin (owner at Abalonia Inn), this event included both a live and silent auction of fine art objects, travel and dining experiences, as well as specialty food and beverages at the Museum’s unparalleled seaside location.

Auctioneer, Candy Manuel, generated great chemistry with the crowd as she directed the bidding activities with a generous dose of good humor and a refined way of reminding everyone in attendance about the finer qualities of the art pieces and entertainment packages they were having the opportunity to bid on – as well as the true value of their generous bids to the OMAA.

The 2017 Art by the Sea auction and gala included a drawing by Ogunquit Art Colony founder Charles Woodbury along with artwork by several regional artists including: Carl Austin Hyatt, Gary Haven Smith, Larry Hayden, Tom Glover, Norman West, John Ross Palmer, and many more.

Michael Mansfield, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Ogunquit Museum of American Art said, “The event was an outstanding success, exceeding our expectations, and the energy and enthusiasm from the evening carry us forward as we look ahead to an exciting 65th season.”

OMAA sincerely thanks Art By The Sea $5,000.00 Platinum Level sponsors Ogunquit Beach Lobster House and Team Wunder RE/MAX Realty One.
